Kolkata student raped in Sikkim, accused booked

Kolkata/Gangtok, May 16 (IBNS): A car driver has been arrested on Sunday midnight for allegedly raping a tourist girl, who is a resident of Kolkata, in north Sikkim, reports said.

According to reports, three Kolkata students hired a Maruti Suzuki Alto car (Reg no.: SK 01 T 1985) in north Sikkim for sight-seeing on Sunday. While they were returning to hotel, car driver Prem Rai allegedly attacked the tourists at Kabi Bridge area under Phodong Police jurisdiction. Two girls managed to get out of the car and the accused driver abducted the other  girl.

Later, the car, along with driver Prem Rai, was detained and the kidnapped girl was found in an unconscious state inside the vehicle.

The girl alleged that she was raped inside the car by Prem Rai and lodged an FIR at Phodong Police Station.

Police arrested the accused driver and took him to Gangtok Sadar Police Station for interrogation.
