Kolkata, Mar 9 (IBNS): The chairman of Kolkata Port Trust (KPT) has been detained over suspected charges of corruption on Wednesday, officials said.

Acting on a tip off, the Anti-Corruption wing of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has held KPT's chairman and IAS officer K. P. S. Kahlon from a hotel in central Kolkata, reports said.

"We have detained KPT chairman K. P. S. Kahlon in Kolkata for his alleged role in corruption. We have seized few lakh rupees from his possession. He is being interrogated now," one CBI officer told IBNS.

However, he will be arrested if his connection in corruption case is proved, during interrogation.
