Kolkata: Police arrest four suspects, accused of cricket betting during CSK and SRH IPL play in Chennai

Kolkata, Apr 24 (UNI) West Bengal police have arrested four people from the VIP Road area, accused of cricket betting during CSK and SRH IPL play in Chennai and confiscated materials, including mobile phones, used for illegal gambling.

This was the second arrest and raid against the illegal cricket betting rackets in the IPL, 12th edition, in the city area and its surroundings.

Bidhannagar police on Wednesday said the sleuths following an input raided a housing complex, near Haldiram Bhujiwala on VIP Road and arrested four suspects on Tuesday evening while Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad play was in progressed in Tamil Nadu.

During raid police also seized some 30 cell phones, number of laptops and a devise, which used for betting on-line.

The arrested persons will be produced before a court at Barasat in North 24 Parganas.

Kolkata Police in a raid on April 19, near Maidan area, arrested seven suspects, all residents of Maharastra and Madhya Pradesh, for cricket betting during Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore play at Eden Gardens.

The police picked them up from Maidan area while they were betting for the match and seized 14 cell phones and other gadgets used for gambling.
