Kolkata, Dec 19 (IBNS): An app-based cab driver was arrested from Kolkata airport area in the wee hours of Monday for allegedly abducting and molesting a minor girl, reports said.

According to reports, a nearly 15-year-old girl was forcibly taken into a cab by the driver and his companion from outside her residence at Raigachighat area under Rajarhat Police Station on the fringe of the city on Saturday midnight.

The girl was reportedly thrown from the vehicle near Chinar Park in Baguiati on Sunday morning, after being molested by the duo for hours.

After starting probe into the matter, police nabbed the accused cab driver- Md. Saiam alias Rockey- and seized the cab (White Swift Dzire- WB 25F 4118), used in the abduction.

According to police reports, another accused, Rockey's companion, is still absconding.

"We are recording the victim's statement and interrogating the arrested to get a fair idea about what exactly happened on Saturday midnight," a senior police official told IBNS.

The booked cab driver, however, has been charged under several IPC sections, including molestation and abduction, and few sections of POSCO Act, according to police reports.

The accused was produced in a local court on Monday and sent to police custody for five days.
