Kolkata jute mill fire brought under control

Kolkata, Jan 30 (IBNS): The massive fire, which broke out at a jute mill in north Kolkata's Narkeldanga Main Road area on Tuesday afternoon, has been brought under control, reports said.

According to reports, the fire was first seen at around 2:30 pm. inside Calcutta Jute Mill's godown and it spread quickly to other parts of the mill as several inflammable objects were stored there.

As many as 8 fire tenders, Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel and local police responded to the incident and firemen fought for nearly 3 hours to douse the blaze.

However, no casualty was reported in the incident, officials confirmed.

Police and fire department have started probe into the cause of the fire.
