Kolkata: Fire breaks out at Sukia Street multi-storey, no casualty
According to reports, the fire was first seen at around 12 pm. at ground floor of the four-storey building.
As many as six fire tender engines, police and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel rushed to the spot and firemen fought for nearly an hour to douse the blaze.
"After the incident was reported, five fire tender engines rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control," Divisional Fire Officer of North Kolkata division, Kamal Kumar Nandi, told IBNS.
"One person was trapped on the top floor of the building and was rescued later safely. Currently, one fire tender engine is engaged in cooling off process," Nandi added.
Reports said that the room at ground floor of the multi-storey, which was the source of the fire, was used as a storage of garments.
However, no casualty was reported in the incident, as the fire and emergency services officials claimed.
