Kolkata, Oct 2 (IBNS): An explosion in front of a multi-storey building at Kolkata's Nagerbazar area claimed a child's life and injured five others on Tuesday, media reports said.

The explosion occurred at Nagerbazar's Kazipara.

The deceased, who was taken to SSKM Hospital, has been identified as Bibhas Ghosh (7).

Among the injured, two people are in critical condition.

Some of the injured people were rushed to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The CID Bomb Squad had rushed to the spot.

The cause of the explosion is yet to be known.

The building, where the explosion occurred, also houses the office of South Dum Dum Municipality, report said.

While interacting with a Bengali news channel, CPI-M leader Sujan Chakraborty has lashed out at the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) for allegedly turning the state into a "burning home".

Chakraborty said: "Bengal is turning into a burning home. The TMC has made the mockery of people of the state. They have done enough politics and syndicates. Now urging Mamata Banerjee (Chief Minister) to give peace to people."
