According to reports, a young woman, who came to Kolkata from Assam's capital Guwahati for higher education last year, on Tuesday lodged a complaint at Lake Police Station in south Kolkata saying that she was raped multiple times since June last year and blackmailed with obscene videos by a city-based businessman.

Following an FIR was registered, police started probe into the case and nabbed accused Rakesh Chowdhury, who is the founder-director of an IT firm in Salt Lake.

After being charged under several IPC sections, including 376 (Rape) and 506 (Criminal intimidation), the man was produced in a local court at Alipore on Wednesday and was sent to police custody for 2 days.

He will be produced before the same court again on Friday (Apr 7), according to reports.
