Kejriwal and Khattar agree to work jointly to curb pollution problem

"We had a very positive discussion for about one-and-a-half hour.  We discussed various pollution-related problems, including crop burning and emission by vehicles,. No one has the sole control over the quality of air.  We have to take joint measures to control pollution," Kejriwal told reporters after the meeting with Khattar taking him by the side.

Describing the problem of pollution as a matter of "common concern", the Haryana CM said his Government is going to take necessary measures to fight the menace.

"Satellite data shows that stubble burning has significantly reduced in Haryana," Khattar, however,  said.

"We had a cordial meeting and we have talked about the things responsible for increasing pollution. All that we need to do is to take action," he  said.

Kejriwal reached Chandigarh on Wednesday morning with the sole purpose of holding a meeting with Khattar on the pollution issue as he maintained that the noxious smog in Delhi is the result of stubble burning and other environment degrading acts practised in several states of the region, including Haryana and Punjab.

Though Khattar  agreed to discuss the pollution problem in the national capital with Kejriwal, Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh refused to meet his Delhi counterpart.

The air pollution in Delhi has been the burning issue as the air quality index is showing a figure much above the permissible limit.
