Kashmir witnesses bandh over deaths of seven civilians at encounter site
Srinagar, Oct 22 (IBNS): A bandh (strike) called by separatists is underway in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday to protest the deaths of seven civilians, who were killed in an explosion in Kulgam district of the northern state a day ago, media reports said.
At least 40 people were injured in the explosion.
Three terrorists were killed in an encounter, which preceded the explosion.
When the security forces had left the site following the encounter, an unexploded shell went off.
The Jammu and Kashmir police had said: "Civilians visited encounter site immediately after operation inspite of request not to visit as thorough search was on for explosives.They didn’t listened and thus visited the spot.Some explosive substance went off resulting in injuries to http://civilians.One civilian died."

Locals and separatists have blamed the security forces for the explosion.
One senior police officer had admitted to media that they had left the site without sanitising the area and defusing unexploded shells.
Due to the bandh, all schools and colleges are closed on Monday and examinations have been postponed. The train services have also been suspended in the valley.
