Kashmir: Violent protesters snatch service rifle from cop

Srinagar, Dec 16 (IBNS): A group of violent protesters overpowered a policeman and snatched his service rifle on Friday afternoon in Magam area of Budgam Central Kashmir, police said.

The police informed that the INSAS rifle of the constable Reyaz Ahmad was snatched by protesters in Makhama area of the district.

The injured cop is being treated for injuries at sub-district hospital of Magam.

It all happened after groups took out a procession after Friday prayers and some among them pelted police with stones.

Reyaz was injured in the stone pelting. The crowd overpowered him and snatched his rifle.

The police claimed a search has been launched.
