Kashmir shuts down on Rajnath Singh's visit
Officials said that the restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC were imposed in Srinagar areas falling under the jurisdiction of six Police Stations including Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar, Safakadal, and Maisuma as “precautionary measures”.
Restrictions were imposed in view of the shutdown called by the Joint Resistance Leadership against the visit of Rajnath Singh to the state.
Notably, Singh is on a four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to review the security situation here.
A large contingent of force was deployed on the Srinagar roads to thwart protests Union Home Minister’s visit.
Meanwhile, all shops and other business establishments in most parts of the Valley, including the commercial Hub Lal Chowk, remained closed while the traffic was also thin on roads.
