Kashmir: Security guard shoots mentally challenged person to death

Srinagar, Feb 19 (IBNS): A security guard has shot dead a mentally challenged person after he allegedly entered Budgam Airfield here in Central Kashmir on Sunday night.

According to a police official, the incident took place on Sunday late night.

The person crossed the security fence and came close to the air force station wall.

Despite repeated warnings, the individual did not stop following which the sentry fired at him to death on spot.

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Police in this regard has issued a statement which reads, "At Airforce station Budgam around midnight one yet to be identified individual entered the security zone area. He crossed the security fence and came close to the station perimeter wall".

"Despite repeated warning from the sentry the individual did not stop. The sentry fired some warning shots in air  but the individual did not stop. The sentry fired towards him."

"Later on Station authorities informed the Police post Humhama. The Station House Officer rushed to the scene of occurrence" the statement added.
Spot examination has revealed that the person was not wearing shoes or proper winter clothing and had no identity cards.
