Kashmir: Militant killed in ongoing gunfight in Uri

Srinagar, Sept 24 (IBNS): A foreign militant was shot dead by security forces in an ongoing gunfight in Kalghi area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday.

According to defence sources, acting on a tip of information army, police and CRPF cordoned off Kalghi village of Uri town where some militants were reportedly hiding.

As they reached the suspected spot, the militants opened fire which resulted in fierce gunfight, reports said.

During the gunfight, one armed militant was shot dead while two others are still firing on forces from different locations in the area.

“#OpKalgai (Uri). #Terrorists cordoned, operations in progress,”  ChinarCorps_IA tweeted.

"#OpKalgaiUpdate. One #terrorist killed so far, civilians evacuated, operations ongoing," another tweet read.
