Srinagar/UNI: At least five civilians were wounded in a suspected grenade blast in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday, officials said.

They said militants lobbed a grenade towards a vehicle in Sumbal area which exploded on the roadside.

"Five civilians received injuries in the blast. It appears to be a grenade attack. We are investigating," a senior police officer in Jammu and Kashmir said.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Soon after the incident, forces cordoned the area.

The attack took place on a day when Union Home Minister Amit Shah concluded his four day visit to the union territory.
