Chennai, Aug 7 (IBNS) : The condition of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi was "extremely critical and unstable," Chennai's Kauvery hospital said on Tuesday.

According to Kauvery Hospital’s latest health bulletin,  Karunanidhi’s  “vital organs continue to deteriorate”.

The former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has been undergoing treatment for urinary tract infection (UTI) at the hospital.

He has been undergoing treatment in the hospital since July 26.

On Monday night, the hospital issued a medical bulletin stating that there has been a decline in the medical condition of the former Tamil Nadu CM. The doctors, attending on him, had set a time frame to determine the prognosis.

Meanwhile, Karunanidhi's son and DMK's working president M.K. Stalin on Tuesday met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the latter's residence, reports said.

Stalin was accompanied by family members and party leaders.

According to media reports, Stalin briefed the Chief Minister on his father's health condition.

The Hindu said  Stalin requested for a place on the Marina Beach in Chennai for a memorial.

A large number of DMK cadres and supporters gathered outside the hospital soon after it issued a medical bulletin at 6.30 pm.
