Jaipur, Jan 6 (IBNS): Creating a fresh controversy, Shri Rajpur Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi called for a complete ban on Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial film 'Padmavati', media reports said.

The Karni Sena chief said the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has overlooked the Rajputs and Muslims.

The CBFC has announced that Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer film will be issued a U/A certificate.

The CBFC suggested the makers of the film to change the title to 'Padmavat'.

'Padmavat' is the name of an epic poem written in the middle ages by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi.

The film, based on the life of Rajput queen Padmini, has run into trouble with Rajput groups alleging that it distorts history. Deepika has played the role of Rani Padmini in the film.

This forced the makers to defer the release of the film on Dec 1.

Besides Ranveer and Deepika, the film stars Shahid Kapoor in one of the lead roles.
