Karnataka polls: Congress releases first list of candidates

New Delhi/UNI: The Congress on Saturday released the first list of 124 candidates for the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections.

According to a communique issued by Congress general secretary Mukul Wasnik, the party's Central Election Commission (CEC) has selected the candidates.

Among the prominent candidates include former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and party's state unit president DK Shivakumar.

Siddaramaiah, who is also the Leader of Opposition, will contest from Varuna Assembly constituency and Shivakumar from Kanakapura seat.

The Assembly elections in Karnataka are likely to be held in May this year.
