Karnataka poll: Siddaramaiah asks Yeddyurappa to join him in open debate

| @indiablooms | May 07, 2018, at 11:45 pm

Bengaluru, May 7 (IBNS): Challenging Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) Chief Ministerial candidate B.S. Yeddyurappa, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked the former to participate in an open debate with him.

Siddaramaiah has also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, probably the biggest trump card for the BJP in the Karnataka poll, can also join the debate.

The CM's comment came after Modi had asked Congress President Rahul Gandhi to take part in a debate on Karnataka with him but without any paper.

However, Siddaramaiah allowed former Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa to carry a paper in the debate.

Siddaramaiah's full tweet reads, "I have asked @BSYBJP to join me in an open debate. @narendramodi is welcome to join. I will speak extempore. They can bring paper Come on BSY avare let people see who they are voting for beyond the smokescreen created by hot air from Modi-Shah-Yogi team"

Karnataka will go into polls on May 12.

The results will be announced on May 15.

The polls will see bigwigs Yeddyurappa and Siddaramaiah take on one another.

Karnataka is one of the few bastions left ruled by the Congress party.
