Karnataka: High alert sounded over reports on Sri Lanka attackers entering Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 4 (UNI) A high alert has been sounded in Bengaluru and other major cities in Karnataka on Saturday following intelligence reports over the possibility of terror operatives involved in Sri Lanka serial blasts entering the state.

City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar said it was a general precaution taken by the police and various places like railways stations, Bus terminals, airports, shopping malls, cinema houses and busy areas were brought under alert and security personnel carried a thorough check. Busy areas like Shivajinagar, K R market, Majestic area was also brought under security screening by the sleuths.

He said an eye was kept on people coming from outside the states in all these places and even passengers coming from abroad at the airport were screened.

Serial blasts in Sri Lanka had took the toll of more than 300 persons recently and there was intelligence report on possibility of terror elements spanning out to some places in the country in a bid to commit terror attacks.
