Karnataka: HD Revanna arrested in alleged 'kidnapping' case of maid while son Prajwal Revanna remains absconding amid sex assault probe

Bengaluru: The plea made by Karnataka Janata Dal (Secular) MLA HD Revanna has been arrested after a local court denied his plea for interim protection in a kidnapping case of his maid, who appeared in the viral sex tapes involving the leader's son Prajwal Revanna, media reports said.

Holenarasipur HD Revanna, along with his son Prajwal Revanna, are additionally accused of sexual assault.

The woman, whose son accused HD Revanna and his associate Satish of kidnapping, has been located by the Karnataka Police. She is set to speak to the special investigative team, reported NDTV.

The woman had been working at the Revanna residence for almost five years before resigning three years ago. According to her son, she was reportedly abducted on April 26 by Satish, a close associate of HD Revanna.

Although she was returned home the same day, she was allegedly taken away again by an associate of HD Revanna on April 29. Since then, she had been missing.

"Why was this person kidnapped? We still don't know the involvement of Prajwal (Revanna). Certain sections of the complaint speak volumes of what transpired. Are they preventing her from filing a complaint? We can't see this FIR in isolation. It should be connected with the broader aspect," the special public prosecutor (SPP)  was quoted as saying by NDTV.

He said HD Revanna was influential and his arrest was necessary to understand the details of the case.

"The petitioner is influential. He has gone to the extent of threatening people... We want to understand whether this was done only on this victim, or are there more. We have to protect these people," the SPP added.

The Karnataka special investigation team (SIT) is also investigating cases of sexual assault against Prajwal Revanna, which gathered storm after obscene videos depicting him engaged in violating a woman started doing rounds in Hassan in recent days.

Prajwal Revanna is NDA’s candidate from Hassan but is believed to have flown abroad on April 27.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to seek help from other nations to trace Prajwal Revanna, citing allegations that he raped several women and blackmailed them with videos, said the report.

Karnataka’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) filed an FIR against Prajwal Revanna after a Janata Dal (Secular) worker alleged that he raped her at gunpoint.
