JP Nadda resigns as Rajya Sabha member from Himachal Pradesh

New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda Monday resigned from his Rajya Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh after being elected as a member of the Upper House from Gujarat.

Nadda's resignation has been accepted by the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, and the seat has been declared vacant.

According to the Parliamentary Bulletin, "Jagat Prakash Nadda, an elected Member of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), representing the state of Himachal Pradesh, resigned his seat in the Rajya Sabha, and his resignation has been accepted by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha, with effect from March 4."

Nadda's resignation came after BJP's Harsh Mahajan was elected to the Upper House from Himachal Pradesh in a draw of lots, defeating Abhishek Manu Singvi of Congress.

Nadda's term as the RS member was set to expire on April 2. He was elected unopposed from Gujarat.
