J&K: Retired police officer shot dead by terrorists while praying in Baramulla mosque

Srinagar/IBNS A retired Superintendent of Police was shot dead by militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district in the early hours of Sunday.

Police identified the retired officer as Mohammad Shafi, who was fired upon at Gantmulla while praying Azan in the mosque.

He succumbed to his injuries on spot, the police said.

The area has been cordoned off to nab the culprits responsible for the attack.

“Terrorists fired upon Mohd Shafi, a retired police officer at Gantmulla, Sheeri #Baramulla, while praying Azan in the mosque and succumbed to injuries. Area has been #cordoned off. Further details awaited," police said on X.

Mir had retired from his job almost a decade ago.
