Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a man in Budgam district in connection with the “illegal transportation” of a drone.

On November 17, a drone unit along with accessories was intercepted by Budgam Police along with officials of the State Taxes Department at Srinagar International Airport, police said.

Accordingly, the drone and all equipment were seized, they said.

“The consignee was asked to produce a valid permission from the competent authority for the possession and transport of the said drone, but he failed to produce the same and was accordingly arrested,” a police statement said.

A case under relevant sections of law which stands registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation was set into motion.

Budgam Police has requested the public not to fly, buy, transport, store or use any unmanned aircraft (drones) without prior permission from the competent Authority as it has been banned by district magistrate Budgam in July last year.
