J&K Police arrest 10 in relation to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital shootout

Srinagar, Feb 8 (IBNS): In a major breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday arrested 10 in connection with Shri Mahraja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS) shootout that left two policemen dead and allowed Lashker commander Naveed to escape.

Those arrested are believed to be sympathizers of militant outfits in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, reports said.

According to sources, Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Army and Central Reserve Police Forces raided several houses in Pulwama and Shopian districts of South Kashmir and arrested 10 people. 

“Last night many persons were arrested from South Kashmir by Srinagar Police and other security agencies,” a police official told India Blooms in Pulwama.

"We only provide cover to security agencies who reach here during night to carry out arrests," the officer said and refused to divulge any further details .

Reports said, police have also seized a bike allegedly used by militants from Srinagar. 

Sources said that Naveed alias Hanzula Jaat is still at large.

Police is conducting multiple raids to arrest him.

On Tuesday, militants attacked a police escort party at Shri Mahraja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS) in which two policemen died while Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Naveed -- who was under detention for almost four years -- escpaed.
