J&K: 2 militants killed in gunfight
Shopian, Apr 25 (IBNS): Two militants are believed to be killed in an on-going gun-battle, which started on Friday afternoon here in South Kashmir, 85 kms away from Srinagar Summer Capital, a police official said.
A police spokesman, while confirming the encounter, said two militants have been killed in the on-going gunfight who were trapped in the residential house of Farooq Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Abdullah Khan in Karewa, Manlo village of Shopian district.
On Friday afternoon, after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants, government forces launched a search operation at Karewa village of south Kashmir's Shopian district.
The encounter took place a day after gunmen carried out an attack on a polling party escorted by police and CRPF in the district at the end of the voting, resulting in the death of a polling official and injured five others including three forces personnel.
