Jharkhand Assembly Elections Results: BJP, JMM-Congress alliance engaged in close fight

Ranchi/IBNS: As counting of votes for the Jharkhand Assembly polls continues on Monday, early trends showed that both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance are engaged in a close fight to gain grounds.

Early trends showed, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance is ahead in 33 seats while the BJP is leading closely in 32.

All Jharkhand Students Union or AJSU is ahead in 8 seats.  The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and others are leading in five seats each.

Counting of the votes commenced at all the district headquarters across 82 halls for which a total of 1478 tables have been set.

CM Raghubar Das is ahead in Jamshedpur East seat. 

Ex-state CM Hemant Soren,who is contesting from two seats, is leading in Barhait but trailing in Dumka.

State Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey said that in all the district headquarters counting of votes has commenced. A minimum of 14 tables have been set up in Hatia for counting while for Saraikela seat a maximum of 26 tables have been set.

In the previous Assembly Elections of 2014 BJP had won 37 seats, AJSU 5 seats, JMM 19 seats, JVM-P 8 seats, Congress 6 seats and Others 6 seats.  

Jharkhand witnessed five-phased polling and the last phase of voting took place on Dec 20.
