Jammu and Kashmir: JKLF chairman Malik arrested in Srinagar

| @indiablooms | Feb 23, 2019, at 09:08 am

Srinagar, Feb 23 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik has been arrested by police , official sources said.

The arrest was made on a precautionary measure late Friday night, they added.

A JKLF spokesman said on Saturday morning that a police party raided the Maisuma house of Malik late last night and took him into custody.

He said that no reason was given for the arrest of Malik who has now been lodged in police station Kothibagh.

Malik was arrested dozens of times during the past six months. However, in some cases he was released after one or two days detention while several times he was lodged in central jail only to be released on bail by the court.

Recently, the state government said Malik was among senior separatists leaders who were withdrawn security and other facilities from the government costing crores or rupees.

However, Malik and chairman of hardline Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani challenged the government claim and said they never had any security or any other facility from the administration. Geelani is under house arrest for the past several months.
