Jammu and Kashmir: JeM militant killed in Shopian
Srinagar: Security forces shot dead a foreign militant of Jaish-e-Mohammad in a gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday morning, police said.
The gun battle had erupted at Kapren Shopian during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the area following an input about the militant presence.
"The CASO turned into a gunfight. One terrorist was killed in the encounter,” a police official said, adding the search operation is underway.
Additional Director General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar identified the slain as foreign Jaish militant Kamran Bhai alias Hanees.
