Srinagar, Oct 2 (IBNS): Indian army on Monday said one militant was killed as he tried to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

According to reports, 20 RR and 6 Gadwal army units manning the Balthania post along the LoC in Tanghdar sector noticed some suspicious movement of infiltrators on wee hours.

Reports further added that group of the infiltrators believed to be four to five in number entered few meters towards this part and on noticing the movement, the army fired which was retaliated, triggering off an encounter, the officer said.

During fierce gunfight, one militant has been killed while another might have escaped.
