Srinagar: At least five people were hurt after suspected terrorists lobbed a grenade in a market area in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar city on Saturday, police said.

The attack took place amid tight security in the city following Centre's decision to revoke the state's decades-old special privileges on Aug 5.

The police said the grenade attack took place in the Hari Singh High Street area of the city.

Police said the area was cordoned off after the blast.

The search operation is currently going on.

"#Terrorists lobbed a #grenade at #HSH #Street #Srinagar. 05 #civilians injured. All are stated to be #stable. Area under #cordon. #Search in the #area is in progress. @JmuKmrPolice," Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
