Jammu and Kashmir: Civilian killed during clashes in Shopian district

Srinagar, June 6 (IBNS): A civilian was killed, while several others were injured, during clashes in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, 44RR and SOG of Kashmir police cordoned off Ganowpora village of Shopian town after inputs about the presence of militants.

However, youth took to streets and clashed with the forces to help the militants escape, resulting clashes between forces and youths.

An eyewitness said that one youth suffered a serious bullet injury during the clashes, following which he was rushed to District Hospital Shopian for treatment but he was declared dead by doctors.

The deceased was identified as Adil Farooq Magray.

He is a student of senior secondary level.
