Jallikattu: Celebrities urge people of Chennai to calm down

Chennai, Jan 23 (IBNS): Celebrities urged people of Chennai to calm down as violence hit Tamil Nadu over the Jallikattu issue on Monday.

Cricketer R Ahswin tweeted:" Taking advantage of good and bad situations belongs just to one set of people.The common man has no role to play in this.Sanity will return."

Actor Kamal Haasan said: "Its ur choice Aninsa or Direct action. Im for peace .B warned not only Tamilians humans r prone 2 violence. Think politicians & people I beg."

Amid violence, across Tamil Nadu, the state Assembly on Monday passed the Jallikattu Bill.

The Bill was unianimously  passed by the Assembly.

The AIADMK party tweeted: "Jallikattu Bill passed unanimously in TN Assembly."

After six days of peaceful protest, Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu witnessed violent protests on Monday.

The police and pro-Jallikattu protesters clashed in Chennai and other places in Tamil Nadu when the police went to evict the protesters on Monday, according to media reports.
