Jaish terrorist from Pakistan shot dead in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 27 (IBNS): Top most Jaish commander of South Kashmir Munna Lahori, who is from Pakistan, was killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian area on Saturday, officials said.

Munna Lahori, the Pakistan-based terrorist group's leader in south Kashmir area, and another terrorist was killed during the encounter.

Police said he was a local associate of the Munna.

Police said Munna was known for IED making and responsible for series of civilian killings in the local area.

"This terrorist from Pakistan was known for IED making and responsible for series of civilian killings in the local area. JeM had used him for recruitment also in the belt," the Jammu and Kashmir Police tweeted.

The internet service has been suspended as a precautionary measure to prevent rumours in Shopian, where reports of clashes from some areas were reported.

They said acting on a tip-off about the presence of militants troops of Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and CRPF launched a CASO at Bonbazar in main town Shopian late on Friday night.

All the exit points were sealed and house to house searches launched, they said.

They said when the security forces were moving towards a particular house, militants hiding inside opened fire with automatic weapons.

Kashmir Police Zone tweeted: "Shopian #encounter update: 02 #terrorists killed. #Arms & #ammunition recovered. #Identities & affiliations being ascertained. @JmuKmrPolice  @Sandeep_IPS_JKP."
