IT conducts raids at six locations linked to actor Sonu Sood: Reports

New Delhi/IBNS: The Income Tax Department on Wednesday raided actor Sonu Sood 's' premises in Mumbai and a company in Lucknow which is linked to him, media reports quoting sources said.

"A recent deal between Sonu Sood's company and a Lucknow-based real estate firm is under the scanner. The survey operation has been initiated on allegations of tax evasion on this deal," NDTV quoted sources in the Income Tax department.

The tax raids come days after the actor met with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and the latter declared him the brand ambassador for his government's mentorship programme for school students in the national capital.

Sonu Sood earned a lot of praise for his humanitarian efforts across the country helping people struggling with COVID-led crisis in the past year.

He organised special flights and buses home for migrants stranded by last year's lockdown and in April-May, at the peak of the second wave, he organised oxygen for Covid patients.

After his high profile meeting with Kejriwal, speculations are rife that Sonu Sood might join politics and rumours suggested the actor may contest next year's Punjab election.

However, Sood has denied any such plans of him making a debut in politics with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
