Srinagar, Dec 31 (IBNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday criticised the recent event where masked youth stormed the historic Jamia Masjid in Kashmir and unfurled terrorist group Islamic State's flag by briefly occupying the pulpit.

A video footage of the incident has already gone viral on social media.

Mufti tweeted: "Appearance of a few youth with IS flag in Jama Masjid Srinagar is desecration of the most important institution of Kashmir's religious, social life. Called @MirwaizKashmir, Umar sahheb to convey my outrage."

Mufti said the occurrence of such an incident could not be accepted.

"Jama Masjid & it's pulpit are most imp landmarks of our religious, cultural moorings. Can't allow barbaric forces to defile it in the name of Islam," she said.
