New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar on Friday extended the CBI custody of former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram till September 2 in connection with INX Media case in which he is accused of bending rules in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board during his watch.

In this matter, CBI registered an FIR in the month of May 2017 over the alleged irregularities in the FIPB clearance to INX Media to receive overseas funds of ₹305 crore in 2007, when Chidambaram was Finance Minister.

Central Bureau of Investigation arrested the veteran leader of the Indian National Congress from his residence in New Delhi on August 21 after a day of high drama.
