India's visa-on-arrival plan to Chinese tourists 'welcomed'

Beijing, Mar 25 (IBNS): China on Wednesday welcomed Indian government's plan to grant visa-on-arrival facility to Chinese tourists and called the move as a 'positive signal'.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remark while she was responding to a question on reports that India is planning such a move and an announcement is expected to be made during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to China.

"We have noted the report about India considering issuing visas on arrival to Chinese citizens. That is believed to be a positive signal. China welcomes other countries' efforts to make it easier for Chinese citizens to get visas," Chunying said.

"The Chinese side will make joint efforts with the Indian side to constantly facilitate personnel exchanges between the two countries, in a bid to encourage personnel exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and trust and underpin bilateral cooperation with stronger popular support and cultural foundation," Chunying said.
