Indian summiter dies on Mt Everest, 2 missing

Kolkata/Kathmandu, May 23 (IBNS): Days after a climber from Kolkata- Rajib Bhattacharya- was killed on Mt Dhaulagiri, another mountaineer from West Bengal- Subhas Pal- on Sunday died on World's highest peak Mt Everest, reports said.

According to reports, four Bengali mountaineers, Sunita Hazra, Subhas Pal, Paresh Nath and Gautam Ghosh, went missing since Saturday 11:38 am. After touching the World's highest peak, they reportedly felt altitude sickness and their GPS got disconnected. .

The West Bengal government also sent a rescue team to recover the climbers.

Rescue operators confirmed that Subhas Pal died shortly after being rescued. Meanwhile, Sunita Hazra is being taken to Kathmandu in a critical condition, while remaining two, Gautam Ghosh and Paresh Nath, are still untraceable.

Since last Friday, seven Bengali mountaineers have climbed the Mt Everest.
