Indian soldiers die in gunfight with Kashmir militants

Srinagar, Feb 13 (IBNS) In an ongoing gunfight with suspected militants two army personnel lost their lives while four others were injured on Saturday in Marsari village of Chowkibal border area north Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said.

On Friday evening on information that a group of militants were hiding in the area, Army personnel from 41 RR, 16 Garhwal and SOG Kupwara launched a massive assault in the Marsari village, ensuing a fierce gunbattle.

A police official in Srinagar Control room said, “Two army personnel were killed while four others including an officer seriously injured in the encounter with suspected militants in Kupwara forests.”

"The house in which the militants were holed up has been destroyed in the operation."

Army sources also corroborated the casualty. 

 “Four Militants including two Army Jawans were killed in an ongoing gun battle in Kupwara while two army Jawans injured by receiving bullet injuries,” Army Spokesman in Srinagar NN Joshi told IBNS.

 Both the injured were shifted to military hospital in the district, he said.
