Indian soldier buried in Siachen avalanche survives, rescued after six days
New Delhi, Feb 9 (IBNS): In what seemed like a miracle, an Indian soldier who remained buried under 25 feet snow for six days in the Siachen Glacier was found alive by the rescue team on Monday, said defence sources.
Lance Naik Hanamanthappa survived in minus 40 degree temperature and the rescue team was overwhelmed when they found him alive.
Reports said he survived because he was caught in an air bubble.
He was shifted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi.
India's defence ministry was engaged in rescue operation with additional specialised equipment and teams at the site of avalanche of Feb 3 at the Siachen Glacier northern base camp where 10 Indian soldiers were buried. .jpg)

But they had no hope finding anyone alive.
So when Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad, who is a resident of Betadur in Dharwad District of Karnataka, was found alive and even not too critical, there was jubilation amid the mourning for nine others who died in the avalance.
