New Delhi/IBNS: Former Indian PM Manmohan Singh on Saturday targeted PM Narendra Modi and his government and said they have only misled people in the last six years.

Singh said Modi made big promises to people six years back.

"The promises include India’s economy touching $5 trillion by 2024, doubling farmers' income, generating employment for 2 cr youth each year," Singh said while addressing the Bharat Bachao Rally here.

The rally was also addressed by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and party leader Rahul Gandhi.

Singh further said: "Now it has been proven that these promises were false and the people of the country were misled."

The Congress held the rally in Delhi at a time when the nation is witnessing protests over the passing of the newly-enacted citizenship law by the Centre.
