Indian Navy steps up ferrying oxygen containers, cylinders and concentrators from abroad

New Delhi/UNI: The Indian Navy on Friday said that it has deployed its ships INS Talwar, INS Kolkata, INS Airavat, INS Kochi, INS Tabar, INS Trikand, INS Jalashwa and INS Shardul to ferry oxygen containers, cylinders, concentrators and related equipment from friendly foreign countries.

According to the Navy officials, INS Talwar has already docked at New Mangalore port with two oxygen containers of 27 TM capacity on May 5.

INS Kolkata, carrying 200 oxygen cylinders, 43 Oxygen concentrators from Doha and 200 oxygen cylinders, two 27 MT Oxygen containers and four oxygen concentrators from Kuwait, is expected to arrive at Mundra port in Gujarat on May 10.

The INS Kochi is ferrying three oxygen containers of 27 MT capacity, three oxygen concentrators and 800 oxygen cylinders from Kuwait and likely to dock at Mundra and Mumbai on May 10.

The other ship INS Tabar carrying two 27 MT oxygen containers and 600 oxygen cylinders from Kuwait will reach Mumbai port on May 10.

The INS Trikhand is carrying two 27 MT Oxygen containers from Doha and it will also be reaching Mumbai on May 10 while INS Airavat has been carrying eight 20 Ton empty cryogenic oxygen cylinders, 3150 empty oxygen cylinders, 500 oxygen-filled cylinders, seven oxygen concentrators, 10,000 Rapid Antigen test kits and 450 PPE kits from Singapore and expected to arrive at Vishakahapatanam on May 10.

In its aid to the civil administration in Covid management, the Indian Navy has deployed its medical teams to various hospitals including DRDO made Dhanwantari Covid care hospital at Ahmedabad.

On May 6, a total of 90 personnel, including anesthesiologists, physicians, medical officers, nursing staff and paramedical staff have been flown from various Naval Stations to Ahmedabad and with this, the total naval medical personnel of Indian Navy has gone up to 169, the officials said here on Friday.
