Srinagar: Rifleman Javed Ahmad of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry regiment has gone missing in south Kashmir's Kulgam district, media reports said.

Rifleman Javed came home on leave a few days back. On Saturday, he had gone to buy a few items from the market driving an Alto car at around 6:30 pm, NDTV reported.

When he did not return till 9:00 pm, his family started looking for him.

His car was found near the market and the report said citing local reports that it had blood stains.

The Kashmir Police has registered a case and arrested some suspects.

The 25-year-old soldier’s family members suspect that he has been abducted by terrorists.

They have released a video statement, appealing for his release, said the report.

"Please forgive us. Release my son, release my Javed. I will not let him work in Army, but please release him," the soldier's grieving mother said, according to the NDTV report.

This is not the first instance when terrorists are being suspected behind a soldier’s kidnapping. In the past, too, several soldiers from the valley were abducted and killed by terrorists while visiting their homes during leave.
