India will experience more losses than in 1962, if war breaks out now: Chinese media

New Delhi, Jul 5 (IBNS): As the standoff between the Indian and Chinese military continues, the latter's state run media has warned the former of greater loss than that of 1962 if war breaks out now, media reports said.

Global Times has accused India of 'acting shamelessly before the international community," stating that it managed to anger Chinese civilians with its provocation.

The state-run media has also accused India of misleading Bhutan into joining its cause.

A week earlier, India's Defence Minister Arun Jaitley refuted all claims and had told the media that if China is to wage a war the result will be very different as the 'India of 2017 is very different than India of 1962'.

Taking a jab at Jaitley, an editorial in Global Times read, "Jaitley is right that the India of 2017 is different from that of 1962 - India will suffer greater losses than in 1962 if it incites military conflicts."

The editorial also slammed Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat's claim that India is ready for a 'two-and-a-half front war'.

"If New Delhi believes that its military might can be used as leverage in the Donglang area, and it's ready for a two-and-a-half front war, we have to tell India that the Chinese look down on their military power,' the editorial read.

The standoff started following a violation by the Chinese government, who started building a road in the Dongland area of Sikkim Sector.

The action is a violation of a 2012 agreement between New Delhi and Beijing.

"We firmly believe that the face-off in the Donglang area will end up with the Indian troops in retreat. The Indian military can choose to return to its territory with dignity, or be kicked out of the area by Chinese soldiers," the editorial read, adding, "This time, we must teach New Delhi a bitter lesson."
