The 15th India–Vietnam Defence Policy Dialogue was held in Hanoi on Monday, co-chaired by India’s Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of National Defence Sr Lt Gen Hoang Xuan Chien.

Both sides reviewed ongoing defence cooperation and expressed satisfaction with progress in areas including hydrography, capacity building and training, UN peacekeeping, port calls and ship visits, as well as collaboration in AI and shipyard upgradation, according to an official statement.

The two sides agreed to further expand cooperation in cyber security, real-time information sharing, military medicine and expert exchanges. They also exchanged views on regional security developments.

On the sidelines of the dialogue, both countries signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Mutual Submarine Search and Rescue Support, creating a framework for collaboration in submarine emergency operations.

A Letter of Intent was also signed to strengthen defence industry cooperation, focusing on transfer of technology, joint research, high-tech systems, joint ventures, procurement, and exchange of experts for defence production.
