India to buy 36 French-made Rafale Jets for $8.8 billion
New Delhi, Apr 15 (IBNS): India is finally set to purchase the French-made Rafale planes for 8.8 billion dollars, media reports said on Friday.
The agreement will be signed within three weeks.
According to reports, it will take at least 18 months for India to get the first lot of aircraft.
France had initially demanded nearly 12 billion dollars for the sale of 36 fighters complete with weapon systems.
After negotiations, India has closed the deal at nearly 3 billion dollars below what France had claimed earlier.
