New Delhi: National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval said on Tuesday that India is leading the fight against those who are promoting terrorism and extremism around the world.

Ajit Doval made these remarks following the meeting with Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, at the India Islamic Centre in New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering of religious leaders and academics, Ajit Doval said that "India is also a victim of terrorism, and it has faced numerous terror attacks, including Mumbai, in which 168 people have lost their lives."

"India has been actively working to combat terrorism through various means, including strengthening its security apparatus, enacting new laws, and cooperating with other countries to prevent terrorist activities.

Emphasising that in India no one is "under threat" Ajit Doval said that "As a proud nation, India believes in promoting tolerance, dialogue, and cooperation to deal with the challenges of our time".

"Despite having around two million Muslims, the involvement of Indian citizens in global terrorism has been incredibly low," he added. Doval said, "In face of great provocation, India has steadfastly upheld the rule of law, the rights of its citizens, and the protection of human values".

NSA Ajit Doval said, The Muslim World League Secretary General's message is loud and clear that we live in harmony, we live in peace if you would like to protect the future of humanity".

A delegation of the Muslim World League, headed by Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-issa is on a five-day visit to India from July 10.

The delegation came at an official invitation from the Government of India. The visit of the delegation has been seen as part of the Indian government’s continuing outreach to key religious figures from across the Islamic world.

Speaking at the event, Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, said that, "Indian wisdom has contributed a lot to humanity, and Muslims in India are proud of their nationality, and Constitution".

He further added, "Muslim components in Indian society are proud of their nationality, that they are Indian nationals, and they are proud of their Constitution".

"The Indian constitution is a sacred constitution that unites the entire country, including the people of different castes and faiths," he further added.

Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa also called upon India to work together in promoting peace and stability in the world, ....saying every country is connected with each other and shares common objectives".

During his stay, Dr Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa will also meet the President, PM Narendra Modi, senior Islamic religious leaders, and religious leaders of different faiths.
