India faces Pakistan at the UN court in Hague to save Kulbhushan Jadhav
Legal mind Harish Salve will represent India as the hearing is scheduled at the Great Hall of Justice in the Peace Palace at The Hague in Netherlands.
The two nuclear armed neighbours were at the top court 18 years ago when Pakistan had asked it to intervene over the shooting down of its naval aircraft.
India earlier said it had no other option but to approach the International Court of Justice to secure justice for Kulbhushan Jadhav, now on the death row.
"We were forced to approach the ICJ after 16 consular requests to the Pakistan Government was denied," Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Gopal Baglay said on Wednesday last.
His statement came after ICJ ruled against the hanging order of Jadhav.
India appealed to the ICJ following Jadhav's death sentence by a Pakistani military court.
Jadhav, a retired naval officer, was arrested by Pakistan last year.
Found guilty of 'spying', he was given a death sentence by Field General Court Martial in Pakistan last month.
The MEA spokesman further said that India had no information either regarding Jadhav’s health or whereabouts. India was denied consular access to Jadhav.
