New Delhi: India has conveyed its opposition towards the Khalistan referendum to Canada both in New Delhi and Ottawa, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said Friday.

"Our opposition to this so-called referendum by anti-India elements is well known. It has been conveyed to the Canadian government. We have publicly shared this information earlier," said Bagchi addressing a media briefing.

"We have taken up with the Canadian High Commission here in Delhi our concerns about the second phase of this so called referendum in Canada. We will continue to take up these issues both in New Delhi and Ottawa and elsewhere," he added.

The so-called Khalistan referendum is being conducted by proscribed terrorist organization Sikh for Justice (SFJ) on Nov 6 at Ontario.

The High Commission in Ottawa has also served a demarche’ on the Executive Director of Global Affairs Canada in Ontario saying that the Nov 6 referendum in Paul Coffey Arena, Mississauga would be the second unlawful exercise after the proscribed SFJ had organized another such activity on Sept. 18 at Brampton, Ontario.
